What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to gently move teeth and is able to correct a wide range of orthodontic problems. It is a very popular system as the aligners are nearly invisible and are removed for eating and drinking, and for brushing and flossing so treatment has very little impact on daily life. Each set of aligners is worn for twenty two hours each day, for two weeks before being exchanged for the next set in the series. The number of aligners required does depend on the problems requiring correction; sometimes this may be as few as seven for very mild cases of misalignment.
Who Can Benefit from Invisalign?
Invisalign is suitable for most adults and some teenagers and can treat a wide range of bite problems as well as closing up or minimising gaps in between teeth and correcting crooked or overcrowded teeth. There are several Invisalign systems available. As well as their main system, Invisalign have developed a braces system for teenagers and a cosmetic brace designed to treat problems with just the front teeth.
How Can I Find Out More?
Please contact Maroubra Junction Dental Center to book a consultation with our Invisalign certified dentist. We will take dental x-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth which are used to plan your treatment. One of the things we really like about Invisalign is its ClinCheck® system that is used during treatment planning and which allows patients to see how their teeth will move. This can be an excellent way to assess the effectiveness of treatment.
